Job Overview

Eames Consulting is supporting a leading financial services organisation in the appointment of a Head of Cyber Security Operations.

This is a senior cybersecurity leadership position with responsibility for the organisation’s cyber defense capabilities, security operations, detection and response, security controls, vulnerability management, and operational resilience.

The successful candidate will lead a team of security professionals and work closely with technology and business stakeholders to strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the organisation’s Cyber Security Operations function and establish direction for day-to-day operations and security capability development.
• Lead and develop the security operations team, including performance and technical capability development.
• Strengthen security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response capabilities.
• Ensure security events are effectively investigated, managed, and resolved.
• Own the organisation’s security exposure and vulnerability management agenda.
• Drive initiatives to reduce technology and cybersecurity risks.
• Oversee security controls across infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Identify security control gaps and drive remediation and hardening activities.
• Partner with technology and business teams on security assessments, technology changes, and risk decisions.
• Provide practical cybersecurity guidance to senior technology and business stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve security tools, processes, and operational effectiveness.
• Build and enhance the technical capabilities of the wider security team.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in Cyber Security or Information Security.
• Significant experience in security operations, cyber defense, or security engineering.
• Strong technical understanding of:
  • Security Monitoring
  • Incident Response
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Infrastructure Security
  • Cloud Security
  • Cyber Defense
• Proven experience leading and developing cybersecurity professionals.
• Ability to balance people leadership with technical oversight.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with senior technology and business stakeholders.
• Experience in banking, insurance, or another highly regulated environment is preferred.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant professional certifications are advantageous, including:

• CISSP
• CISA
• CRISC
• CCSP
